ODE TO OTTO

PATRICK S GORDON

OLOriginal oil on stretched canvas
Two companion pieces complete with hanging instructions on the back

Signed on the back Patrick S Gordon
Top: 16" x 20"
Bottom:  20" x 16"

A Tribute to Otto Duecker. "I had used some black electrical tape in a stillife and the piece remained stuck to the painted canvas and all of a sudden I thought I see it as Otto sees tape. His iconography has affected my cultural point of view in the scope of tape images."

Born in 1953, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Patrick S. Gordon gained national attention with a series of solo exhibitions, beginning in 1982, at the Fischbach Gallery in New York City, and Joseph Gierek Fine Art in his then-adopted hometown of Tulsa. Since then, he has continually exhibited at numerous, prominent galleries around the country, featured in notable museum shows and competitions, and his works can be found in important private, corporate and museum collections throughout the United States. Print editions of Patrick’s work are widely popular with collectors throughout the world.

"My job as an artist is to improve the quality of your life~as painting has improved the quality of my life."

MAN ON ORANGE

KERRY WALSH

Original oil on stretched canvas
Signed K Walsh 65
20" x 40"

This is a one-of-a-kind painting produced in 1965 while Kerry studied Fine Art and Journalism at Northeastern State University. The late Kerry Walsh was a graphic designer and principal of Walsh Branding. He liked to say he sought to turn “brands into landmarks.” Not surprising, given that he was a landmark in the Tulsa community. He particularly loved championing the arts in our community and played a prominent role in the Tulsa Arts District. His decades of work in environmental graphics and brand messaging can be seen throughout the city from private firms to parks and from hospitals to hot dog stands. Walsh Branding received many awards from such sources as Communications Arts and Print magazines as well as Art Directors Clubs of New York, Dallas, Los Angeles and Tulsa. Kerry was chosen to be one of only 50 designers to be in the prestigious “World Graphic Design” publication.

Early Chris Mantle one-of-kind painting. Mantle has become a legend in Tulsa for his abstract works and his buffalos have taken the world by storm. “When I’m painting, it’s like God saying, ‘Look what I can do through this person.’ That’s why I have the squiggle line signature on my paintings. It spells MAN frontwards and backwards. I try not to be vain. All of mankind has let me create this art. We all take part.”
